Wayne Rosing, senior fellow in mathematical and physical sciences at UC Davis and former Senior Vice President of Engineering at Google, discusses his work on and plans for the Las Cumbres Observatory Global Telescope Network. This network will deploy approximately 60 telescopes in at least six sites in different longitudes across the globe in both hemispheres, including Chile, South Africa, Australia, Hawaii and the Canary Islands. The network will provide continuous observation capabilities and allow astronomers to respond to satellite reports of activity such as gamma-ray bursts and supernovae instantaneously, as well as allow for long period observations of targets of scientific intetest.
