The History of the Universe, Life, and Everything: What JWST Will Tell Us

Presented by: John Mather (NASA Goddard Space Flight Center)
Category: Education and Outreach   Duration: 1 hour and 30 minutes   Broadcast date: June 06, 2011

Nobel Prize winner Dr. John Mather visits the Space Telescope Science Institute to give a talk on the scientific implications of the observations that would be performed by the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST). JWST is a large, infrared-optimized space telescope, and will hopefully find the first galaxies that formed in the early Universe, connecting the Big Bang to our own Milky Way Galaxy. Dr. Mather's presentation discusses not only how JWST will affect astronomy, but the implications for physics and other fields of science.
