Given its amazing pictures, many think of the Hubble Space Telescope to be like a super-powerful digital camera in space. While that analogy has some truth to it, the process of creating those wondrous views of the universe is anything but "point and click". Lisa Frattare, an image processor who has worked on most of Hubble's famous images, reveals the secrets of turning raw science data into astronomical works of art. Trace the various paths of pixel tranformation from detector to computer to image to 3D visualization, all while maintaining the underlying scientific integrity of Hubble.
